Project Update 12/2/19
- Dune Fencing Installation – Crews continue installing dune fencing posts along the back side of the sidewalk on the east side of A1A. Crews are currently working on the last section around Beach Drive to the North End Crosswalk.
- Pedestrian Lighting – Crews are continuing electrical work for the new lighting.
- Sidewalk Sealcoating – Crews are applying a new sealcoat to the colored sidewalks along the east side of A1A. Pedestrians walking along the east side of A1A may encounter closed sidewalk sections while the contractor is applying the new sealcoat. Once applied, it takes approximately 4 hours to dry before reopening. This work will be ongoing over the next few weeks as the sidewalks from Casuarina Rd to the North End Crosswalk are sealcoated.
- Visitor’s Center Sewer Improvements – Work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, December 3rd at the Visitor’s Center, located at the southwest corner of Atlantic Ave and A1A. The existing sewer lateral will be repaired and replaced with new PVC pipe. During this work, the sidewalk along the south side of Atlantic Ave near the Visitor’s Center will be closed. Pedestrian traffic will be directed to cross at Gleason Ave to the North Side to access the sidewalk along Atlantic Ave. & A1A. The Public Restrooms will also be closed during this time. Temporary porta-potties will be placed at the Visitor’s Center for use during this time. We anticipate this work to be completed over 3 days.
The schedule is weather dependent and is subject to change. Stay tuned for future schedule updates.
